Rashad Alalimi, the President of the Leadership Presidential Council, admits, on Friday, about the differences within the Council that recently takes the power in the country, after the overthrow of the former president Hadi by KSA and UAE.

 

This came during a dialogue session with the president Alalimi held by The Middle East Institute at Washington  via “Zoom”.

 

“There are differences within the Presidential Council and I don’t want to submit a pink picture about the situation, but we are keen on continuing the Council according to partnership”, Alalimi said.

 

“We are trying to resolve differences by consensus and sometimes by biasing the principle 3 + the president. We didn’t use voting while some members drag others to the conflict square, so that we turn to common and consensual solutions, and sometimes to pressure through more numbers of votes”, He added.

 

He also indicated that the Council’s members seek to maintain the common constants at the Presidential Council, trying to resolve the differences internally.

 

Alalimi assured that since the formation of the Council, he has never used voting in administration in order “Not to be conquerors and losers, but I used to conduct internal consultations to be agreed on”.

 

The president also talked about the Council’s objectives, among them are “Rebuilding the state Institutions, introducing more services to liberated areas and improving the life of the Yemeni people”, pointing out that “The state institutions at Aden got stabled, military and civil institutions have been rebuilt while judiciary also has returned to its role”.

 

He explained that the Leadership Council is exposed to pressures regarding extending the truce, while they take that into account due to humanitarian reasons, realising that the truce is threatened by Houthis rejection of fulfilling its terms and obligations.

 

He pointed out that the Houthis rejecting to open roads to Taiz, asking for new demands while they failed to stick to their former commitments.

 

He noted that the Presidential Council is with the extension of the truce, and that the Houthis must commit to opening Taiz roads, and if they have other issues, it’s possible to be discussed during the truce. He indicated that the Council is makes concessions only for the people while Houthis consider that concessions to be political victory for them.

 

Alalimi said that the war at Yemen has generated 4 millions of refugees inside the country and other millions outside.

 

Alalimi revealed about the efforts of re-exporting Gas, confirming to make contact with France and Total Co. that requires “To conduct agreements about security issues, as there is a fear of Houthis attacks on the project”. 

 

He finally assured that “Gas exporting project would be fruitful for us, especially in rebuilding infrastructure”.
